Staff from Asda’s Head Office in Leeds came to Interplay (Asda Charity of the Year) in October to help refresh our building, which was in need of a fresh coat of paint! Five staff volunteers from the Integrated Marketing team came in to help us redecorate our Media Suite, which is used by our young people on our film and music projects.
Interplay is Asda Marketing team’s nominated Charity of the Year. This means they are raising money for us through events and activities, staff are volunteering their time to support our work and help us to improve our facilities for the young people we work with all year round.
On 28th March Interplay are hosting the first Tools for the Trade showcase of 2012. Our young people have been working closely with artists George Gisbourne and Lee Smith over the last 12 weeks and have songs, films and animations to show. From live dub step to a photography display and the world premiere of the band’s amazing new music video, this is a day not to be missed! The young people involved come from all over the Leeds area from both mainstream schools and IGEN Leeds.
The showcase will take place at 11am here in the Interplay main space with refreshments before and after the show.
Spit Nolan theatre designer Barney George has been working with Interplay’s Artistic Director Steve Byrne to design the new set for the show. The design encompasses our core ideas and methods for engaging with our audience by creating an immersive and flexible environment for the characters to share the story of Spit Nolan and the gang.
On Wednesday the 7th of December the students of Tools For The Trade are showcasing their films, music and ideas developed at Interplay throughout the last term.
Each person involved has worked for 12 weeks to perfect and polish each artwork they have produced. They have put together their idea’s and stories into their own individual pieces and they’re going to be shown, for one afternoon only, for you to come along and view.
