Frida and Diego Research and Development Underway
Our research and development for upcoming theatre production Frida and Diego is now underway. The story is based upon the life and art works of Frida Kahlo, a mexican painter who to many was the first to truly place herself as the subject of the art.
In our first look at the show we put together a photo shoot featuring Francesca Treymaine as Frida. The shoot aimed to discover how we could create the iconic look of Frida Kahlo and play around with imagery from her paintings, many of which feature rich colours and floral decoratiions. The resulting images can be used for pre-rehearsal promotional materials and visual representation of our theatre work still to come.
The shoot for Frida and Diego was directed by our Artistic Director Steve Byrne working with photographer Phil Moody, Digital Coordinator Tom Jordan, Costume and Set Designer Angie Coburn-Hough and Chloe Coburn-Hough as Make-Up Artist (recreating that well known mono-brow).
Some fantastic looking shots have come from the shoot and we’re eager to see how the workshops leading from this further the productions development.
Frida & Diego written by Greg Cullen and directed by Steve Byrne, will be touring nationally in 2013 to special schools and theatre venues across the UK.
